Every voice matters. Every heart matters. And sometimes, the greatest lessons in education aren’t found in a curriculum, they’re found in the people who lead with courage, compassion and heart.
Today, we’re joined by the wonderful Maria Giordano from Merribek Primary School an educator and leader whose approach to school is beautifully simple: know your people, listen to their stories, and make sure everyone feels like they belong.
That philosophy has now found its way onto the page in Maria’s new book, Every Voice, Every Heart, a celebration of connection, community and the incredible power of truly seeing and hearing the people around us.
But Maria’s story also extends well beyond the school gates.
She’s faced some significant health battles, moments that have tested her strength and reminded her just how precious life, relationships and community really are.
And through those difficult times, something pretty special happened.
The education community did what great communities do.
They wrapped their arms around one of their own.
Today we talk about leadership, vulnerability, education, Maria’s new book, and what happens when the care and compassion you’ve spent a career giving to others comes flooding back your way.
This is a conversation about every voice, every heart — and one remarkable educator.
Welcome to the podcast, Maria Giordano.
